NOTE

“Rhapsody” was my first piece for symphony orchestra, a commission from Symphony Pro Musica on the occasion of their 25th anniversary celebration. In this piece, I clearly had the harmonies and collage-form techniques of Igor Stravinsky on the brain, as well as echoes of Gershwin, Bernstein, and Copland. While the piece ended up not being very festive in the traditional sense, I still think it holds up as a zealous-student exploration of the possibilities of the orchestra.
