NOTE

The “Variations” were commissioned by Emmett Rapaport, a former student of mine and a terrific saxophonist. The work takes the classic Hebrew melody “Sim Shalom” as its theme, which is then subjected to variations with a broad range of stylistic influences and technical demands for the saxophonist.
